The standard processing period, assuming the application content is complete, is 7 working days from the date of application submission to VFS Global to the earliest issuance of the visa. If the application is submitted with incomplete documents, the processing time will be extended, and for cases needing comprehensive document examination, it may span several months.

      Include your scheduled arrival/departure dates and flight information, your accommodation, and what you plan to do each day. Reservations and payments for flights, accommodation, or transport are not required at the time of application.

  1. Since 3 November 2024, the Embassy of Japan has entrusted VFS Global with the facilitation of the Japan visa application process — the Embassy no longer accepts visa applications directly. In principle, applications through VFS must be booked online in advance (reservations for the month after next are generally released on the 15th of each month), and during busy periods (mid-March to early June and mid-September to late October) you may wait more than a month for your desired appointment. If you need an urgent appointment, VFS also accepts same-day, first-come-first-served applicants waiting for cancellations, though this isn't guaranteed.
